I am a stay at home mom to 4 beautiful little girls ranging in ages from 6years - 14 months. I am very busy to say the least and find myself using the excuse that I don't have time to eat as healthy as I would like. Every New Year I find myself making a list of goals that I want to accomplish in the year. Many of them I accomplish and I am very proud of them when I do. This one particular goal, losing weight and being in the best shape of my life I have not yet accomplished. But, have NO FEAR this is THE YEAR!

Over the last few months (more like 6 months) I have been reading Tosca Renos Eat Clean Books If you dont know who she is google her, she has a great story. Anyways she is all about eating clean foods. Which means
  1. No Preservatives
  2. Organic when possible
  3. Whole foods
  4. Eating every 2-3 hours (six times a day)
  5. If you cant read the ingredients in the label you shouldnt be eating it
  6. Enjoy a complex carb and a lean protein with EVERY meal
So this is my goal. I did this for 1 month when I first started reading her books and I have NEVER FELT BETTER. I slept great at night, my skin was glowing, my hair was shiny, I had tons of energy when I woke up in the morning and food tasted SOOO GOOD!! Why did I stop? It takes a lot of extra work and you have to be organized. It is way easier to open up a jar of spaghetti sauce then to make it from scratch when you are not prepared and running behind.

I have set Sunday nights aside to prepare the food that I need for the week and have it organized in my fridge so I can grab it and run out the door and never be caught at the mercies of any fast food restaurant again.
Tosca talks about the importance of not relying on the scale to show you your progress. So I am getting a old pair of jeans out that no longer fit trying them on once a week, taking my measurements once a week, and weighing myself once a month. I will do interval training on the treadmill 5 times per week and weight train 3 times a week.

I will no longer count calories I will watch portion sizes.
I will no longer rely on what the scale is telling me I will watch my body change by how clothes are fitting.
I will no longer let food control me I will control my food

I honestly feel that if you give your body what it needs your body will give you what you need in order to be healthy and strong.

I will keep you posted!!
WISH ME LUCK!!
