Steph Thursday

So my computer is broken, and we're trying to get it fixed, or buy a new one. Hence no posts for the last couple days....I had no computer!

Anyways,

I didn't work out like I planned, but I DID shovel a very slushy and icy walk (and we're talking a LOT of ice and snow) two days in a row - and my arms are killing me! I also have been organizing my house re: closets, and there has been a lot of lifting and running up and down stairs (to the point where I'm panting a bit) so I think it counts as exercise. Also I helped my friend move furniture around today (up and down stairs) so I'm counting that too.

Eating: um..... I think I'm doing really well, but I know I still have a "treat" almost every day and I'm trying to cut that back. Today I had honey on toast and counted that as my treat, so I've come a far ways from, say, eating half a cake or a full bag of chips as a "treat". Actually I was even in the store today, craving chips, and knowing I forgot to eat my snack and was going to the dentist for a cleaning so no eating for at least another hour and a half from that point, and I purposefully avoided the chips and bought a health(ier) banana bread bar instead. NOW if i'd had my cooler with me, this wouldn't have been a problem. woops.
But I'll make it for sure!

I think for me, I probably need to start incorporating treats into my daily schedule for now. If I do that I'll look forward to it and won't crave other things. And that way I can control my "treats" - say honey on toast, or that yummy looking almond spread, or a couple chocolate chips in a trail mix..... I'm going to have to start doing this.

I think it's interesting that sugar has the same effect as alcohol on the liver. Yuck. I really am getting into the habit of purposefully avoiding sweets and I have to say I'm proud of how far I've come!

When I DON'T eat anything too crazy, I really do feel fantastic. Especially since V and I have started eating a plate of raw veggies for our morning snack. I was doing fruit and smoothies but started bumping that later into the day and my goodness what a difference! AND it gives me time during the day to put my foot down with V, "nothing else to eat until our veggies are gone!"
So far, this has worked. Keep your fingers crossed.
